Morrison accelerates future growth

Morrison today announced a number of changes to its senior team to ensure delivery of its long-term growth agenda:

Infratil Limited CEO

The Infratil Board has appointed Jason Boyes to succeed Marko Bogoievski as Infratil Chief Executive and a Director, effective 1 April 2021, with Mr. Bogoievski stepping down after 12 successful years as Infratil’s CEO. This long-planned succession will enable a smooth transition while Infratil is delivering strong returns and has a clear future growth plan.

Mr. Boyes joined Morrison & Co in 2011.  He is based in Wellington and has been leading the firm’s recent European expansion, having previously held the roles of Head of Legal and Chief Commercial Officer for Morrison & Co.  Jason is currently the Chair of Infratil portfolio companies, Longroad Energy and Galileo Green Energy, and will continue to oversee Morrison & Co’s origination and investment management activity in the energy sector globally.

Mr. Bogoievski will remain as Chief Executive and Director of Morrison & Co and continues as Chair of Vodafone New Zealand.

Global Head of Private Markets

William Smales has been appointed as the Global Head of Private Markets effective immediately. This role will be responsible for Morrison & Co’s global pipeline of investment activity, leading major transactions and developing investment capability in new markets.

Will was previously the Head of North America and will maintain responsibility for establishing a North American presence until a new Regional Head is identified. Morrison & Co has commenced the external search for this new role.

Will also retains the leadership of the digital infrastructure sector group and the firm has committed to further investment into this sector given Morrison & Co’s leadership position in the market.

Investment Committee

Morrison & Co has appointed Nicole Walker, Chief Commercial Officer, and Kellee Clark, Head of Legal, to the Investment Committee, to leverage their financial experience and broad investment perspectives.

Nicole Walker joined Morrison & Co in 2017, bringing exceptional knowledge of product development, fund formation and client relationship management.  Kellee Clark has extensive experience in investment and divestment execution and asset management.  As highly credentialled investment professionals, both Nicole and Kellee help strengthen the quality of investment decision-making, aligned to the purpose of “investing wisely in ideas that matter.”

Head of UK & Europe

Vincent Gerritsen, who joined Morrison & Co in 2019, will succeed Mr. Boyes as Head of UK & Europe effective 1 April 2021, reporting to Mr. Bogoievski. Vincent is based in London and will be responsible for growing the team of investment professionals and origination across the region.

Morrison & Co expanded its portfolio across Europe in 2020, through new investments in renewable energy and digital infrastructure. The recent investments complement over A$1 billion (US$0.8 billion) of core assets currently under management in Europe and Morrison & Co plans to leverage its deep investment experience and three decades of success in its home markets.

Biographies

Jason Boyes, Infratil CEO

Jason joined Morrison & Co in 2011 as Head of Legal and was appointed Head of Europe in 2019. He is a member of the Management Committee and Investment Committee. He was previously a senior legal partner at Buddle Findlay in New Zealand, specialising in corporate, securities, and finance transactions. Jason is Chair of Longroad Energy and Chair of Galileo Green Energy GmbH.  He has been Chair of Wellington Airport and a director of NZ Bus.

William Smales, Global Head of Private Markets

Will is a member of Morrison & Co’s Management Committee and Investment Committee. He has extensive investment experience across a wide range of industry sectors. Prior to joining Morrison & Co in 2013, Will spent seven years with the Carlyle Group where he was a Principal, investing in Europe and North America. He is a director of CDC Data Centres, Vodafone NZ and Longroad Energy, and a past director of Australian Registry Investments, Metlifecare and Retire Australia. 

Nicole Walker, Chief Commercial Officer

Nicole leads Morrison & Co's global capital origination and product development, human resources, communications, and legal functions.  She is also responsible for the firm’s international client relationships and a member of the Management Committee and Investment Committee.  Nicole has extensive experience in capital raising, structuring and fund formation in Australia and Asia. Prior to joining Morrison & Co in 2017, Nicole spent six years with Blackstone, leading institutional fundraising efforts in Australia. She started her career as a lawyer, specialising in structured finance and M&A at Allens Linklaters and then joined Macquarie Capital in Hong Kong. She is a qualified solicitor and is admitted to the Supreme Court of NSW. 

Kellee Clark, Head of Legal

Kellee leads a team responsible for providing legal and commercial advice to Morrison & Co, covering investment and divestment execution, asset management, product development and new mandates in all regions.  Before joining Morrison & Co in 2013, Kellee was a lawyer with Buddle Findlay practising primarily in the M&A, corporate, finance and commercial areas.

Vincent Gerritsen, Head of UK & Europe

Vincent has over 20 years' experience in infrastructure investing, investment management, M&A and business development in the social infrastructure, telecom, utilities, renewable energy and transport sectors. Before joining Morrison & Co in 2019, Vincent was partner at Ancala Partners and a senior investment manager in infrastructure at PGGM. He also worked in business development for the real estate investment management arm of ABN AMRO, and previous employers include Rabobank and KPMG Corporate Finance. Vincent is a director of Galileo Green Energy GmbH and Fore Freedom.
